Kay ate an egg today for morning tea. She would get this tissue (the thick ones ... a bit like the ones Matt Preston(?) advertises for) and fold it into two and lay it on the table ... and eat the egg. An occasionally she's wipe the side of the egg on the tissue like it was leaking water .... yeah it was amusing. I met other ladies and they asked me what I wanted to be and Kay told them I wanted to get into medicine or architecture (i corrected her with engineering) and they started talking about their kids and what they did. cause one lady's son was a civil engineer. was. he's now a mining one.
the funny thing is i asked another lady if she wanted my seat (there're only 4 seats and one table in this lunch room cause it's the smaller one). so she said no and Kay was like 'aww ... she's a nice one.' -pause- 'giving her seat to the elderly ...' and the person sitting next to Kay burst out laughing. apparently it's an inside joke :| Kay remarked that she said that half heartedly just because her friend was there and, while laughing, the friend talked about how Kay wouldn't dare to say that to one of the other colleagues. yeah, everyone was laughing and no one seemed to have the teenagers-are-not-nice attitude :D
oh and this reminds me. one of the people where i work looks slightly ... a tincy wincy bit like one of the characters in glee. it sounds funny saying characters cause you usually think characters are like ... not real. you know what i mean? but the people in glee are real. but they're not. OMG YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?!
well later i had to sort out the children's court cases from the normal ones. and make coversheets for them. this actually took me quite a while cause it's actually quite time consuming figuring out if one needs a new coversheet. cause you gotta sift inside and see if there are other things that the person did and stuff ... im still not very good at this job haha! and, of course, every single time i would have to sort it into alphabetical order afterwards. i then did the coversheets for next monday and tuesday :) also i had to tick off some of the cases and stuff from a list (i've seen them scan the stuff into the network, but there's SO much paper ...)
oh and i forgot to mention. the way they talk is cool. like if they want you to find the papers for john smith they would say "do you have ... in the matter of Smith." i forgot what they say in the ... so hehe :D
lunch was cool. i used the microwave for the first time ... there were bits of food in there. like crumb sized bits of food stuck to the microwave walls. urgh. this time I read about 'Mary and Kate's royal pact' ...
OMG TODAY I SLEPT IN BY LIKE 98709876 YEARS. not really. i got up at 8 when I usually catch the 8:05!!!!!!!!!!! and unless I sprint I can't make it to the station from home in 5 minutes. so i do actually remember my alarm clock ringing and me turning it off (bad move). the next thing I know, my mum goes 'aya jennifer it's 8 o'clock why aren't you up?' i immediately glance at my clock and - my gosh - it's a little past 8. i leap out of bed and almost run into the bathroom. I only spent like 5 minutes in there (compared to my usual 10+ minutes, it's a great improvement). then i immediately changed, spending about 3 minutes. meanwhile my mum was making breakfast-on-the-go for me and shoved it in my bag. leaving home like 15 minutes after i woke up (i'm usually in the bathroom washing my face or changing 15 minutes after i wake up).
also ... today when Kay didnt know what tasks to give me they figured that I could go and write down the book names in the library upstairs. haha, yes sounds funny. the library is really the size of ... a very very small classroom. like the size of my laundry. well there are books in there from the 1880s and they're not allowed to just throw them away without contacting their library so i had to compile a list of all the books. and yeah ... that's what i spent the next 2 or 3 hours doing.
the funny thing was i started hearing girls sing. i could tell it wasn't an adult's voice so i thought it was primary school little girls singing at first! cause it's near the lunch room so i assumed that they thought no one was upstairs so they were like chatting and singing weirdly and acting funny :) amusing! :D so i was giggling and thinking of that awkward moment when I walk out of the library and they're like O_O crap did she hear everything?! well, yeah. cause that always ... ALWAYS happens to me.
so yesterday a lady who was leaning on my workstation was talking to Kay and she started swearing and doing that thing where you go 'effing this, effing that, etc.' and Kay, after about 3 seconds, realised and said 'don't say that in front of the work experience girl!' and i couldnt help but laugh.
and another thing which happened today before lunch ... so i was doing my coversheets when I heard a lady (Mary?) tell this young lady (one of the 'bare shoulder and arms ones') to turn around. so she turned around, and Mary reacted with 'my! i never realised you were so well endowed!' and they started talking about why she didn't notice and she just said she never looked. it was funny cause half the office was laughing and i couldnt help but laugh either :\ awkward. well Mary walked up and leaned on my workstation and began talking about this show that she watched yesterday or something ... and she was talking and, naturally, i was listening. then she started talking about breast implants or something and she was looking around until her eyes laid on me. she immediately stopped talking and asked me if i was still at school. after i answered yes, she immediately shushed and walked back to her station. a few hours later, i overheard her talking about whether people did cosmetic surgery on their breasts for people to see (and they had a little debate over it, but everyone agreed on yes) and that on the show some people doing the surgery were 'already very well endowed'.
yeah, snapshot of office gossip and stuff like that. very amusing :) the office looks really like ... an office.
except the dividers are green and all the little stations have a computer and stuff. it's SIMILAR but not really like this photo. as in it's this type of set out. |
except for when they debate about the air con.
today the air con WAS SO NICE. it was warm. the girls who had just gone out to buy morning tea or something came in and was complaining how it was hot in here ... while most people like Mary, Kay and I were like NO THIS TEMPERATURE'S GOOD! the girls with bare arms were saying 'we told Joe to turn it up by like 1 degree, and this is like 5 degrees hotter!' and i agree. but i think 5 degrees hotter was suitable, so it was good :D even the guy who came in yesterday and said it was like an iceberg said it was hot in here.
at the end people were looking for papers ... and they were all like sifting through the shelves. The name that they said - i was so sure i saw it yesterday! so i stayed for about 5 minutes afterwards telling Kay that i'd seen it and she was asking me which day's lists was i doing when i saw it but i didnt remember :( all i remembered was that it had a blue cover sheet (which i might have put a white one on top) and it was sad cause there were blue slips of paper everywhere and i wasnt much help :( yeah ... cool day today.
looking forward to typing up the list of the library books tomorrow :) and for the third time, i forgot to turn off the computer at my work station. i. am. an. idiot.
