First day in china and we've already gone shopping in the supermarket, eaten an early yum cha breakfast, met a few of my (favourite) relatives, dispersed souvenirs from Australia ... You get the point. The coffee table at my grandma and grandpa's place is currently filled with Asian snacks - sour plum, seaweed ... And Ferrero Rocher which I bought for my cousin :) my cousin is awesome :) did I tell you guys that the only souvenir my cousin told me to get her and my other cousin was a tub of nutella? Yeah ... We were expecting something a bit more ... Expensive. But apparently they don't sell nutella in china and her friends say that it tastes really good :/
According to the plane ticket, the plane trip was meant to take 9 hours and 45 minutes. In reality? it took around 8 hours and 45 minutes. So basically we got to china at 4 in the morning. Trying to get a taxi at such an unearthly hour was ... Difficult. Let's disregard te countless private companies trying to encourage us to get in their car and they could drive us at a cheaper price compared to a taxi rate (sounds ... Nevertheless suspicious and reminds me of free candy and white vans). You know how on busy sides of the road there is a gate thing that separates the two traffic directions? Well yeah. We saw this taxi driver just drive in through the little gap in the gate designed fore pedestrian road crossings ... And he was like smashing his car mirror thing. My mum was like :O what a reckless driver! I feel sorry for whoever he drives.
And naturally we end up being this taxi driver's customers. Ironic? Anyway what we thought would be a 1 to 2 hour taxi trip ended up being a mere 40 minutes ... so instead of arriving at around 8/9 as we had told my grandparents, we got to our china home at 6 in the morning. A bit earlier than expected. After we managed to arrive upstairs, unpack some stuff, I just decided to take a nap. I mean hey, I have a whole day ahead of me!
Then we went to have a yum cha Breakfast a little before 9. Soon my cousin, aunty, aunty 2, grandparents, mum, Jason and I were having an awesome time strolling around 'park n shop' which is 百佳 in Chinese. Back home now, and that's where the beginning of this post comes from.
Oh and did I mention that my grandpa has an iPad? I'm using it to type this post at the moment 8D hence the many typos that i would have missed. There's this really cool photo taking thing and my brother and I took a few photos ... I'll post the funniest ones here :) I will probably post a photo of my cousin on here as well ... If you guys look around I'm sure i friended her on this Asian account of mine :D
Bye for now! First blog post half way into my first day in china.
