work experience day 5!

so i was meant to go and work with Linda and ... Suzie? this morning but apparently Linda comes in late on Fridays so Kay was very nice and offered that I could do some coversheets. So yeah, i started sifting through all the coversheets for ... the 1st of December and i sorted them out into two piles (one to go into alphabetical order and the other needed coversheets - but the top one needed a coversheet somewhere inside i think so it looked like it didnt need one). Finally Linda came and told me she needed me so I was like :\ okay! except I was half way through my coversheet job but i just left it there. Linda showed me how to add the information in a statement of claim onto the nsw dept. of attorney and justice database ... it was really cool :)

i was a bit worried about my coversheets cause i was wondering whether Kay was okay with me just leaving it there. when i left she was on the phone so i didnt say anything ... i wanted to at least tell her that i had sorted it into two stacks so it would be easier for her to continue. turns out (when i walked to my work station later) a man called Alex was sorting out the coversheets and my two stacks were gone :( i felt bad cause i think he thought i had randomly sorted it out into two stacks cause one stack was too tall and the files might topple over and smoosched it together :( but if he went through them he would notice that a whole heap together needed coversheets right? >.> ah well.

anyway, after seeing how to add the statement of claim onto the database, I went and had morning tea :) after coming back, Suzie explained to me what a garnishee was and gave me some paperwork to do. she had to put in the receipt details in the computer (she said that it would be too much for me (and it really was - looking over her shoulder the process looked quite complicated ...)) and i would separate the different copies (already printed) and make sure that one copy would be sent to the plaintiff, one kept as a file copy and another sent to each defendant. if there were any remaining copies the plaintiff got an extra copy. yeah it was cool :) cause i printed a little letter from which i would change the address every time for a new defendant :) apparently you dont even need the letter (as in it's not a rule to have the letter with it), but the sutherland court people said that they didnt want the defendants to be confused about the jargon used and stuff so they kindly attached a letter explaining stuff :)

afterwards i put all the defendant letters into their corresponding envelopes :D boring as it sounds, it was entertaining and relaxing hehe. i thought that i would have done like one hundred and something but when i counted (yes i counted ... for the sake of telling people on my blog ehe) i had only sealed 31 envelopes. OH and when i went and randomly got a stack of envelopes it turns out i took 29 (i was only 2 off!)

after finishing that, i went to lunch. after lunch I asked her if she wanted me to go and write down the names of the few books i had left and she said that Joe would really like that. when i came back downstairs, Kay was no where to be seen and her shoes were underneath her workstation. in a messy fashion.

IS THIS A SCENE OF A CRIME? DOES THIS REQUIRE ... FORENSIC HEROES?!

spoiler ahead. sorry, that was me being weird. I FINALLY FINISHED FORENSIC HEROES 3!! yay but my fav actress died in the drama :( sad aye.

anyway. i ended up waiting for 25 minutes to ask if she wanted me to type it up (i couldnt log in to the computers anyway). the first sign i knew she was going to come back was when i heard someone shout 'where are your shoes Kay?!?!' and she was like (walking in) 'i kicked them off!' or something like that. that bit is really vague in my memory so chances are i'm far off. well yeah, it was funny.

omg and Kay was like :O at around 3:00 cause she was like OMG I ENTIRELY FORGOT THAT YOU ASKED TO SEE THE CELLS THIS MORNING!! and she was like quickly dialling on her cool workstation phone and asking downstairs when i could come. i could come in 30 minutes.

i had not finished typing up the library books. one more page of handwritten names to type up. GO ME!

3:25 and i FINALLY WROTE THE LAST BOOK IN! i was like (literally) (hands up in air) 'YAY I FINISHED!' and Kay laughed. later when i proof read it it turns out i left out three lines so i quickly added it in. by this time the 'corrective services' guy had come in to fetch me. then he took me down a way i'd never been down before and showed me the cells :)

it was super cool. there were no loose objects e.g. fire extinguishers cause apparently they werent allowed .. otherwise it'd be easy for bad guys to take it up and whack an officer with it. the only things on the wall were emergency buttons ... and they were spread out every few metres and it's for an officer to press if in danger. the cells smelled. the officer explained that if they had a female they'd put her in a special one cause it's closest to the exit into court and that if she had to walk past a bunch of bad boys they begin to 'behave like little kids' (direct quote from the guy who was showing me around). it's also really cool cause the cells actually have passageways leading to like the police station and the court upstairs. like it leads to the little box where they hold the accused .. you know? it's so cool. i was like WOW. they also showed me the surveillance stuff and you can see EVERYTHING. all the passageways, etc. and they have a place to put guns cause you're not allowed guns inside in case bad guys take them and shoot good guys. they also have a thing that looks like an american locker and they have the content labelled on the front and it was something like 1x helmet, 1x sword and other stuff. really cool stuff.

yeah :) that was basically my day. except for the awkward moment. omg that awkward moment was ... awkward. i was so glad that i had gone through my week without awkward moments until the last word i said at work on friday was awkward. its hard to explain without context but i'll shove that in my friday awkward moments post. it's late and i stayed up typing this in case my memory fails me. bye bye bye bye! :D
