work experience day 1!

so ..... yeargh. im working in ________ (dont mention it yet for fear they can google this blog) :D

so i arrived about 20 minutes before my shift starts so to avoid getting lost, etc. after i walked through the ENTRY DOOR, i almost giggled. it was funny. i had to put my bag through one of those machines that they have at the airport and can see all the contents of your bag! the people looking after it were dressed in police uniform so it was cool.

walking into the reception (with my bag) i saw a lady in front of me, also waiting. turns out today was her first day too cause she got transferred from another local court :) she said that engineers got paid really well (after i mentioned i wanted to get into medicine or engineering when i grow up).

walking into the office, i got introduced to Kay who was to look after me (she's super nice and likes chinese food). the person who filled out my work experience forms REALLY looks like a cartoon guy. seriously. like. SERIOUSLY. im not sure if this is the guy but it's one of those things where i cant pinpoint it but i just swear he looks like him.

but i will temporarily not attach it :)

so first i had to make sure that all these sheets had spaces and that the current date was on it so the magistrate could write on it. then ... we went to 'call over'. from what i saw the registrar was simply asking the person if they plead guilty or not guilty but Kay told me that it lessened the burden of the magistrates so that they could concentrate on determining whether someone was guilty or innocent. so i think that's probably why they sorted out when hearings would be and in which court, etc.

afterwards we got to eat morning tea :D i ate morning tea in the smaller lunch room which had a fridge and sink and one table with .... three or four chairs. there was a guy already there and Kay and I sat down. Kay began eating slices of ham while i began munching on my apple (i later ate my biscuits). then i noticed that the guy had the .. meadow lea butter with text on it that said 'property of ______ (i forgot his name). DO NOT TOUCH.' and i got amused. also, he took out a bun and sliced it in half and begun spreading the butter on it. he used quite a bit and wasnt as paranoid as me so didnt spread it to the very sides. then he TOOK VEGEMITE OUT AND SPREAD IT ON TOP OF THE BUTTER. in a thinner layer cause vegemite is so salty. BUT OMG HE ATE BUTTER WITH VEGEMITE!!!!! that sounds quite gross.

anyway. so then another lady called Hannah (i think) came in and begun talking to Kay about ford cars that look like bubbles and Kay said that those cars are very good. then she asked me what i wanted to do when i grew up and what my parents worked as and somehow we landed on the topic of rice. Kay said that once her friend told her that unlike asian stereotypes, they eat rice AFTER they eat vegies. i said no ... we eat rice during eating our vegies >.> and that maybe she was talking about when you're still hungry you go get more rice. yeah and we kept talking.

then i went and had to print out new coversheets for cases that had all the columns of the table filled out. paper based systems omg. BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH PAPER IN THERE ... like your wrist to elbow height stack of paper for like one day (sometimes more, sometimes less). then i had to arrange them in alphabetical order.

then i had to find some cases that were missing and not in their correct pile (hence sorting through several stacks of wrist to elbow high sheets until Kay found the booklet while searching with me). i also had to manually add some cover sheets onto some cases and rewrite the defendant's name and offence on it. also photocopied and scanned a teeny bit.

omg i swear i had so much to say but now i forgot them all. oh yeah, they use the same clocks as we do at school. also, the lunch room is awesome cause the upstairs one is huge and there are magazines! i read about a serial killer who killed 70 something girls in 20 or 30 years. great way to spend my lunch :D also when i was looking through the stacks of paper the stack in 23/11 went missing. she asked if i had accidentally shoved it in with another date (cause it's very important that they're in the right dates) and i said that it was already empty ... and i felt bad :( cause i was scared she thought i did it cause i was new but i was quite sure i didnt. but i cant say for sure. but IM SO SURE.

and and and cause in the morning it was cool and the temperature inside was similar to that of outside i didnt notice they had on aircon. so in the afternoon when i walked out i was suddenly hit by the overwhelming humidity and like 30+ degree weather. but i cbb taking my vest off cause my bag was annoying to open and the station was only 10 minutes walk away. oh did i mention that in the morning i caught a train 4 minutes later than my usual train ... AND MY TRAIN WAS EMPTY. LIKE FIVE PEOPLE IN EACH CARRIAGE. ASHG;PDFHG;SJHGDF. it's what happens when you travel in the opposite direction to the city during peak hour in the morning. IT WAS THE SAME WHEN I CAME BACK. and they were all nice air con trains (just tangara though). but OMG imagine it was like that every morning when we go to school :') wouldnt that be nice.

this post is getting really really long. im so sure i had so much more to say. but i forgot. how sad. well, no photos provided cause i didnt wanna go snapshotting my workmates. coolies :D hope you guys all had fun!

forensic heroes 3!

just thought i should probs post about this :) gonna be short post. hopefully.

i always wanted to be a forensic scientist :) i like science and problem solving, so i guess it kinda works out :) but i dont think i have the courage to encounter a dead body face to face (sadly) so if i could choose i'd probably be a criminalist or investigate trace evidence. i dont actually know too much about the field (again, sadly) so i dont even know if they encounter the dead body :(

anyway. i'm up to ep. 15 (i'm about 2 or 3 episodes from being updated) and i think Mandy and Jim are very cute together.

OMG SOMETHING WEIRD HAPPENED. so i was going to look on baidu (asian version of google lol) if anyone had a photo of Jim and Mandy together already so i could put it here so you guys get what i'm saying. so i found this tieba forum and i was scrolling through it and reading it (but then thought i shouldnt really read it in case i find spoilers since im not up to date) so i was scrolling through it and stopping occasionally until i saw this!

i was like 'wow this person is like saying the exact thing i think! cause i think Mandy and Jim should totally go together. Cause Jim is just like AO;FHG;SDF. so nice and loving and everything. and dedicated.' then i was like ehe this person must like those twins ... like vanessa! haha and then i looked at their dp and i was like wow this person must really like them!

then the username caught my eye and i started LOLing. yeah, literally. it was just funny and weird. IT'S YOU, VANESSA ISN'T IT??!?!?!? i totally agree with you :)

anyway. this post is getting a bit too long. but i also really want ... omg i dont remember the character names. Aimee and ... that guy. hold on. okay thanks to this i now know their names. thanks for spoiling it sigh, 'Angel' and 'Ken' haven't gotten together yet but in the description they say that they're going out. sigh. well. that awkward moment when Angel goes into the guys toilet cause the girls toilet is being cleaned and changes clothes, then Ken comes in and they're just like DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD:

R.I.P. Steve Jobs (Feb 24, 1955 – Oct 5, 2011)

Your death (Oct 6 in Australia) will forever remain in my heart as a significant date of tragedy and heartbreak. It was a day of mourning. I am sure many people were reminded of the shortness of life, and the speed with which it can be taken. But some people reacted particularly stronger.

Like my iPod Touch. Undergoing an internal conflict, my iPod decided to TURN ON ME as a response to Steve Jobs’ death!!! So I hadn’t turned it on for several months … and turning it on, everything was normal. Until it asked me for my password. When I got up to the capital letters of my password I pressed shift. Once. AND THEN IT TURNED BLUE. I was like … okay … it went onto caps lock. This is unusual. So I typed in those letters. Then I typed up some non-capital letter bits. THEN THE NEXT TIME I PRESSED SHIFT IT WOULD FLASH BLUE BUT NOT STAY BLUE!! Argh. It would stay blue for the amount of time I kept my finger on the button but the moment I took my finger off it would go back grey!! D: omg I was like asghk;dfg. i even tried to type in the letters with my finger on shift but it didnt work :( it's like when mr bean walks past tvs and they go static and then they only start working normally when he leaves so he can never watch the tvs :(

So all I could do was restart it heaps of times and hope it would work. But it didn’t.

So a few days later I spent my whole day on youtube watching videos on HOW TO UNLOCK YOUR IPOD IF YOU FORGET YOUR PASSWORD. Sad thing? I hadn’t synced it to any computer since my computer got reformatted a while ago … so I couldn’t just connect it. So apparently if you put your iPod on recovery mode you can reset it (I’d given up on keeping the data and just wanted my iPod reset). So I was trying to reset it … but then it was like ERROR it wont blah blah. So I was like DDDD: and tried again.

Then it worked the second time 0:) im so happy.

So it got the new OS synced to it and stuff … and opening my iPod I realised that I now had gamecentre. I didn’t have gamecentre before. So I was creating my username! As you readers will all know, im lazy and hence I just use jenmonster for everything. SO WHEN I REALISED THAT JENMONSTER WAS TAKEN I WAS LIKE OMG WHAT DO I DO.

And I don’t want to add more r’s like what i did for my youtube account cause I wont remember how many r’s I added. So I decided to change it completely and make it a nickname that my brother gave me. Sufood. I call Jason a doofus and he’s like ‘You’re a doofus!’ and I was like ‘No … I’m THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF A DOOFUS!’ and Jason paused. Then he was like ‘then you’re a SUFOOD!! Exact opposite, right?!’ and I was like :|

Then, typing it into gamecentre … it was taken.

I mean, sufood isn’t even a word. … right?! So out of curiosity I decided to google define: sufood. And guess what I found.

Yeah. I changed my phone’s Bluetooth name from sufood to Jennifer :) just then in an attempt to escape any … misunderstandings. So by this time I was like AFHG is it impossible to get a username? So I tried boofhead.

Someone has the username boofhead.

And I was like DDDD: so I remembered a random word off the top of my head. Monolid. Ehe let’s see if someone got the username monolid?! I am actually slightly freaked out trying to picture me evilly and angrily punching ‘monolid’ into my iPod …

And guess what.  My new gamecentre username is monolid. That awkward moment when you're typing something random to see if it's taken and it ends up being your new username. Beautiful. Sums up me in a single word. But I probably wont change it, cause it’s just one of those things that will remind me of fun times :’)

formal!

i know this is a bit late but ... the formal was REALLY FUN!

katrina's dad drove us there and we actually got there around 5 to 10 minutes late ... but it didn't matter =/ but we (maggie, kelly, katrina, vanessa, me) didn't get any photos with the place (all the cool SGHS YEAR 2011 stuff) in daylight (unlike alicia, rhiannon and alison).

it was really cool cause there were photobooths and my group just kept taking photos lol. the place was quite small ... Ms Jukic described it as 'intimate' but there was more than enough space and it just made everything more fun. there was a balcony-like thing and the view of Sydney Harbour was really beautiful!

at the very end you turn right and there's a bag room :)

so the food and drinks were served by waiters and waitresses and it was really cool :D i think they were italian or something (cause Ms Brown is Italian and she was telling us how to pronounce L'Aqua?) so it was really awkward when we asked them what the food was and they'd tell us with a really heavy accent and we would be like 'pardon?!' and they'd look at us weirdly and repeat it but we wouldnt understand it and yeah ...

anyway. the first thing i had was a mocktail AND IT WAS SO SO SO NICE! it tasted like really nice soft drink and i really wanted another one but i couldnt find anymore :( didnt see any nice waiters walking around with them. so yeah, that's how i got my food for the rest of the night.

the photobooths (which werent really booths) were really just a camera and a bright light with a touchscreen and keyboard. the lady (in the second photo) was really nice and worked slower cause she'd make sure we filled in everything we needed before going to the next screen. but several times she forgot to tap the screen so we were all like posing and it wouldnt take the photo and some of us had to remind her to tap the screen. the guy in charge of the other photobooth worked much more quickly and liked to assume things. like he'd ASSUME we wanted the photo in colour, only one copy and that we didnt want the photo emailed to us. which is why i had to say WAIT! when he was about to click the next button on the 'enter email address' bit ...

anyway. i took photos of the photos (ehe that sounds funny) before i got the emails ... but i might post the not-so-clear and more grainy photos cause even though they arent such good quality, the original highlights more pimples and stuff. wait or maybe i'll just post both. yeah both :)
