WE WON WE WON!

this post is purely for the sake of me remembering what happened.

so i got up at 8:45 ish. i was so paranoid that my alarm would run out of battery that i automatically woke myself up at 3 and 6 and 8 oclock :L you know when your brain automatically does that ... yeah well it's annoying.

i took the train and bus with Merrilyn (totalling 1 hour trip) and met Connie just as we got off the bus. we met Michelle at the entrance (turns out she has twin little sisters! adorable, i know) and started getting prepared.

first school: PLC
we then played PLC. it was ok, we won 3 out of 5 games (alison, michelle and connie lost their matches) but IT WAS GOOD. like it was average, nothing too hard.

second school: SGHS (i know right, they've got the same abbreviation thing as us. strathfield girls high school.)
omg. this was frustrating for catherine and i. so we were playing against them ... and during practise and watching the second doubles (catherine and i) THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK THAT GOOD. but SADLY WE LOST. partly because i was being stupid and went to the front for a period of time (usually catherine stays at the front and i take the back) and catherine told me later on that was why she couldn't get the back ones :( stupid me :'( it was kinda sad cause it was my first match i lost :( (mainly cause i played with carolyn last time so she made everything nice) we won 3 out of 5 games

third school: SGHS (this was actually Sydney Girls High ... we were playing against the other team we put in)
so team 1 (my team) still had an inkling of hope to win ... so we were like OMG SHOULD WE JUST ASK THEM TO LET US SO WE CAN GUARANTEE A WIN?! but then we were like NAH that isn't fair and even if we win we wouldn't find it fun ... so we played normally. and catherine and i lost to sandra and renee (i don't know what happened! we played very badly i guess. then sandra and renee should have been in our team if they were better than us ...) and we won 4 out of 5 of the games ....

fourth school: PLC (they entered 28736458 teams. not really. but they won girls div 1)
this was good :) catherine and i won our doubles thing quite easily, which was good cause we were beginning to lose confidence :( catherine spazzed before our game cause the girls we were playing against were in year 7 and they were really tall! anyway we won 4 out of 5 games here :D

fifth school: HGHS (runner up last year)
this was the most nervous match catherine and i played. it was really tense cause we NEEDED to win at least three games in this to get a chance at winning ... and we were under heaps of pressure to win this. well, not really. obviously our team mates said 'no pressure' but we still wanted to do our best :D and ... GUESS WHAT. we were like TIED AT 14 ALL and the winning team is the team first to reach 15. usually if you get two tied one point below the winning thing you raise the winning thing by 1 and you keep doing that until one person is two points ahead of the other and they win (you know what i mean?) - but this time apparently you dont. so it was a matter of whoever won this match won the game.

YEAH I KNOW RIGHT SO FREAKY.

so i was like fully sweating and i understood why Clive (our coach) told me to remove the plastic thing on my badminton racket grip ... cause when i sweat the racket tends to kind of slide in my hand. well anyway. i just told myself JUST TRY TO HIT IT BACK DONT EVEN TRY TO RISK LOSING THIS POINT.

... AND THEN WE WON!!!!!! OMG. WE LIKE WENT FULLY CRAZY CAUSE WE WERE QUITE SURE WE WOULD GET 3 OUT OF 5 GAMES THEN, CAUSE LATER CAROLYN WOULD PLAY AND WIN.

but when carolyn played she was playing against ANOTHER REALLY REALLY GOOD PLAYER. at the beginning carolyn got it out and into the net several times but she made up points for it. whenever the hornsby girl won her team mates were like fully cheering so we were like WE GOTTA SUPPORT CAROLYN TOO! so when she won we would like clap really loudly. but when the opponent got a point we clapped softly ... when carolyn remarked on how we clapped when she lost we explained to her that:

  1. we didnt want it to look like we had bad sportsmanship
  2. we wanted to show carolyn that we werent too frowning and angry when she lost the point to clap, just to show that we were still with her!
and at the awards ceremony they announced the runners up were hornsby .... then i was like OMG. WE WON HORNSBY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE .... then they said that the winners were SYDNEY GIRLS HIGH! and we all erupted into applause and im like in my head OMG YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY MY DREAM HAS COME TRUE! it was so great!

when we went up to get our medals and trophy i was first up and unfamiliar with the process ... so after she put the medal on me i turned around and asked Alison if i just join the end of the line and fumbled around for a bit (SAME CONCEPT AS WHY I DONT LIKE GETTING ON THE BUS FIRST) ... until i turned around and i saw the lady with her hand out to me ... anticipating a hand shake. i quickly shook her hand but my brain was like OMG I JUST LEFT THIS POOR LADY WAITING FOR MY HANDSHAKE AND NOW SHE THINKS I'M SO IMPOLITE AND I GAVE SGHS A BAD REPUTATION! OMG NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

but it was brilliant :D

my lights can be seen inside the shuttlecocks ....

the back!
ignore my lights >.>

study study study study study

ok, so just then i was like I'M GONNA GO AND STUDY MORE SCIENCE!!!!!!!! so i went to the bored of studies website (haha mr denyer joke) and tried some past school cert papers.

OMG THEY WERE HARD. ESPECIALLY this one which struck me as strange:

i mean ... seriously. if i knew exactly what to do, i would have:

a) got a friend's shirt on fire before
b) expected to get a friend's shirt on fire - hence i revise this

but WHAT I GOT IT WRONG! like ... okay. looking at the options i was like wait all of them sound feasible. then i was like ... wait but the sand won't really stop the fire, would it? i mean it'd just fall off. and plus, i'd never heard of a fire bucket before. so i cancel d. i know for sure c works. i mean, don't we all? b sounded good too. fire extinguishers extinguish fires right? and in movies don't they always squirt it on someone when they go on fire? but hm ... i'm guessing that it won't work in real life when it's a person cause then the stuff that comes out (which i think is meant to restrict oxygen from the fire?) will just fall off. maybe not that ... and i was like. hm. I HAVE NO IDEA. and the fire blankets i've seen ... (i think there's some in our school dangling and stuff - cause i somehow have this mental snapshot of one) they seem small. like not big enough to cover a whole body. so im like WHATEVER go with the one that everyone knows works.

tcccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

this one? oh, i dont think any of you will get this. it's just that this is a typical IPT HSC question, and when it came up i had a big of a WHAT AM I DOING THE RIGHT PAPER thing. like we spent 2 entire topics on databases. but then (system) flow charts got kicked out of the course and we dont focus much on graphs or tables. EXCEPT FOR THE GANTT CHART OMG.

well anyway. so when i was reading this i was actually tossing between database and table. cause TECHNICALLY a database is a table. and i was like WHAT do they expect us to overthink this and stuff? and i knew it worked fine with database and would be really efficient cause you can just conduct an SQL query BUT i was like BUT MOST PEOPLE DOING THE EXAM DON'T KNOW ABOUT SQL!!! WHAT DO I EXPECT THE EXAMINERS TO EXPECT OF ME?!?!

yeah, annoying. but i chose database and got it right in the end :D

so i was wondering, to all those that dont do ipt, do you guys know what a database is? how much do you guys know? have you guys ever used/made one before?

it's just one of those things that i'm curious about cause i fear i take some things for granted. cause i doubt i knew anything about a database before ipt and stuff :) yeah, i'm a weirdo.

some thoughts

so on tuesday night my nose was still blocked. and i was brushing my teeth. and suffocating. why? because there was no FREE ORIFICE for my to breathe through! maybe minus my eyes. i once tried breathing through my eyes, and it worked. no, not worked. like i could get the teeniest air flow - nowhere near enough for me to breathe through. and i dont recommend it - it was so long ago that now i am wondering whether it was a dream - your eyeballs might fall out :( nobody wants that to happen.

so i was suffocating. and then i stopped brushing for a bit, breathed a bit and kept brushing. how does my brother survive like this everyday? well then it occurred to me that the toothpaste was quite minty. then i wondered: how do people who hate mint brush their teeth? i mean, isn't it utterly disgusting for them? i wondered if toothpaste mint counted as an exception. and that maybe some little kid once choked on it and was ever since traumatised. maybe they use listerine? but then listerine is minty isn't it? i've never used it but i always assumed it to be.

I FINISHED MY TOFFEE.

like if i had to dunk my teeth into the cheesy sauce of easy mac like 2 times a day to clean my teeth ... oh boy. the thought almost made me vomit. anyone like to explain to me how people who hate mint brush their teeth? cause as far as i know there are quite a few people who don't like mint ...

oh and while tagging this post i saw the tag fish. so i just had to mention ghoti :) ghoti is a homonym of fish.  which means they sound the same. why? how? i hear you say. because the gh is taken from laugh, the o from women, the ti from nation. so when you piece them together you get ghoti? :)

creepy knife transformer

sorry for not blogging for a while! my mood at home has been weird for the past few week - i havent been doing any work, wasting hours on facebook and not doing anything. yet amongst all that time i did not make one single blog entry :(

i'm eating a toffee now. the hundreds and thousands have all fallen off or dissolved but the toffee is still a bit too big for my mouth. i'm trying to suck on it but sometimes it seems stuck in a corner of my mouth cause its hard to move ... being so big and all.

did i tell you guys about the knife guy? well i dont wear my glasses when i walk home from the station, and some time last week there was a suspicious-looking old man with a beard and all, hobbling in my direction. then a moment of panic overcame me - you know when you feel this wave going over you? yeah that. why? because in his right hand i thought he was holding a knife. i was actually bracing myself to run or something - until i realised it wasn't actually a knife.

i saw him again on monday. my eyes subconsciously wondered to his right hand - and there it was a again. what i had identified as a key chain which dangled the right length to be a knife. the presence of black and silver must have triggered my mind about the handle and blade of a knife. there might have even been a soft metal clinging which made me freak. well, this time i didnt flinch. he was walking to same route, the same clothes, the same keychain in the same hand holding it the same way.

and guess what. i seem him again on wednesday. same route, same clothes, same keychain in the same hand holding it the same way.

well anyway. im just a bit weird. and yes i am wearing my glasses now. and i tried to fold the toffee over cause it was thinning and i was like i should try make it easier to chew. but then when i was making it into a nice shape a part of it decided to stick onto my teeth. i can't get it off.
